Summary:Balloon Festival in Taungyi, Myanmar. Hot Air Balloon Festival and contest happens in Taunggyi, Myanmar each year end October – beginning of November. Festival lasts for one week. Balloons are made from shan paper. To fly they need some 50 kg of firewood burned. It is attached to balloon in special basket. Imagine paper balloon with 50 kg burning firewood flying above 20 000 heads of drunk crowd. Some balloon owners, to attract the public, add also fireworks to the balloon. Each night dozen balloon owners show their artwork. The two crash episodes happened during the same night with maybe 1 hour interval. Especially the last one was really impressive. After that festival night was closed.
