Title:VV3932 Man alleges Walmart staff are hiding PS5's from customers
Date:8th January 2021
Summary:Occurred 10th December 2020, Richmond, California. ''I entered the Walmart and proceeded to the electronics/ gaming department. Upon arrival to the department at the register there is a self serving kiosk where you can scan items for pricing and/or inventory check. I have a Walmart barcode in my phone for PlayStation 5 so I scanned my phone at the Kiosk. The kiosk told me at this location they have 9 PlayStation 5 consoles on hand ( I have documented with photo ) I then ask the employee if they had them in stock and the two employees acknowledged that they indeed had them in stock but a manager would have to help me. As I’m waiting for a manager to help me another wal-mart associate approaches the counter and I’m thinking that this employee is the manager. The other employees informed me the manager was coming. It turns out this was not the manager but an employee named Eduardo who was on break and also confirmed that they had 9 PlayStation’s in stock that just came off the truck. He also stated he was here in electronics to purchase one himself while he was on break.I didnt think nothing of it until the store manager on duty came over finally and said that he can’t sell me, a paying customer, a PlayStation 5 that they have 9 in stock that are not pre-orders...but here we have Eduardo an employee that can purchase one? I began to document the incident and the manager began removing his name tags..what does he have to hide? He calls security on me and two guards approach. Why is security needed? I wasn’t being threatening.I wasn’t stealing..why was security called? I have footage of the incident. As far as I’m concerned this is not fair to the consumer and these employees are participating in inventory manipulation as well as consumer malpractice.''
