Summary:Occurred May 2019, New South Wales, Australia. ''The joey is called Heidi and she’s female for a start. Mostly the boys are the ones who like to practise their kicking skills, but Heidi LOVED to practise on the humans. She would kick with all her might, even snorting as she kicked because she put so much effort into it. Heidi came to live at Wild 2 Free Kangaroo Sanctuary when she was 8 months old, in February 2019. She was orphaned when her mother was killed by a car. She was one of a group of 8 joeys raised together and was integrating into the ‘released’ mob of ex-orphans when the Black Summer bushfires destroyed her home and mine. Heidi and her BFF Melvin have not been seen since the bush fire on Dec 31, 2019. We like to think she got away and survived. I hope so. I miss her a lot. She was one of my very special favourite joeys.''
