''In May 2019 we went away for our wedding anniversary, as we always do, and it was then that we decided we didn't like 'real life' anymore and wanted to sell up and live in a van for a while. The intention is to live in the van for as long as we like and then hopefully one day have a smallholding to live a much simpler, self sufficient life. We spent at least a month making sure we could afford it financially and working out what and when we wanted to tell our families. Both of our families have been so supportive.
Our house went on the market in August 2019, a couple of days before we bought the van. It had taken us from May 2019 to August 2019 to find the right van at the right price.
Dan began to build the van straight away in the evenings after work and during the weekend whilst I was sorting out the house sale. By the end of October 2019 Dan was really struggling with his mental health due to the stress of work and was signed off. Dan didn't go back to work.
By December 2019 Dan had just about finished the van (it had taken about 4 months) and we had our first night away in it on 28th December 2019, it was amazing!''
