Summary:Dramatic footage has emerged of a female leopard that had fallen into a 70ft-deep farm well, was rescued using nets, ropes and cot after a 6 hour-long operation in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh, India. The incident happened on July 7 when the leopard strayed into a farm owned by Alok Dongre around 7pm and fell into the well while chasing a prey in the dark. According to the forest officials, the leopard must have come to the river banks to have drink of water and then strayed into the farm in Makadkheda village from there. The village is situated along the banks of Narmada river. After hearing a grunts of the leopard emanating from inside the well, curious people peeped into the well only to find a leopard inside, struggling to keep itself afloat. The villagers informed the forest department officials within half an hour of the spotting of the leopard. Since it was difficult to carry out a rescue operation at night, the wildlife officials waited till daybreak to start the operation. The leopard was given first aid and released back into the wild in the evening.
